Plan International is responding to the crisis in Sudan, both inside the country and across the region, including in South Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia, the Central African Republic and Egypt.
Our work focuses on protecting children, providing education and safe spaces, supporting survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, and delivering emergency food assistance to families in need.
❤️ It is only thanks to your donation that our work is possible.
The armed conflict that broke out in Sudan in April 2023 has developed into the world's fastest-growing displacement crisis and the largest global hunger crisis. Three years on, more than 8.8 million people have been internally displaced, while over 4 million have fled to neighbouring countries.
Around 21 million people – 41% of the population – face acute hunger and famine. Millions of children are suffering from acute malnutrition. Those affected by the conflict are also facing significant challenges due to a number of ongoing disease outbreaks, including cholera, malaria, dengue fever, measles and rubella. Children, especially girls, are disproportionately affected by the multiple and worsening crises – violence, displacement, disease outbreaks, hunger and malnutrition. The imposition of restrictions on humanitarian access has had a detrimental effect on the level of suffering experienced by the affected population.
