Our emergency and disaster relief focuses on supporting affected children. At the centre of our work is the provision of urgently needed relief items. We also protect children from abuse and neglect and help them cope with traumatic experiences. With more than 85 years of experience and strong local networks, we can act immediately in over 80 countries and protect children before, during and after crises.
Girls are particularly at risk: in times of crisis, they are more often kept at home than boys to help with household tasks. They face the danger of child marriage, early pregnancy and are frequently exposed to domestic and sexual violence. They also lose access to education. This is why our emergency and disaster relief always takes the specific needs of girls and young women into account.
Donations to the emergency fund enable rapid and unbureaucratic assistance in the event of a disaster and support long-term, child‑centred reconstruction. Plan International provides immediate aid on the ground, works with local partner organisations and supports affected communities with food, clean water, child‑friendly spaces and reconstruction measures.
