Emergency Aid for Myanmar

Plan International Schweiz

One year after a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, millions of children and families are still living with its devastating impacts.

This disaster has struck while Myanmar is already grappling with conflict. We are extremely concerned about the toll that yet another crisis will take on children, especially girls, and their families.

Plan International has worked in Myanmar since 2008 and has experienced staff in the country. We are working urgently to get additional teams on the ground, assess needs and stand ready to provide support.

The disaster claimed thousands of lives, destroyed more than 50,000 homes, and disrupted essential services across the hardest hit regions. Many families remain in temporary shelters with limited privacy, inadequate sanitation, and rising health risks due to extreme heat and the approaching rainy season. Girls and women continue to face heightened protection concerns, while ongoing disruptions to education mean many children are still learning in temporary or damaged facilities. With Myanmar identified as a potential hunger hotspot in 2026, food insecurity and loss of livelihoods add further strain to already vulnerable communities.

❤ Please donate today to support the girls, children, and families affected.
