On Wednesday 24 June, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela. Currently 164 people are reported to have died and at least 900 have been injured.
The disasters, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, hit within seconds of each other, bringing down buildings, cutting power and blocking roads. Venezuelan authorities have declared a state of emergency.
Plan International is working with partners and local consultants to assess the impact and is preparing to respond to help children and families impacted by the disaster.
Earthquakes destroy infrastructure and leave families without access to clean water and sanitation, increasing the risk of disease spreading.
Children, particularly girls, are among the most vulnerable, facing trauma, disrupted education and increased risk of violence.
Quick international support is essential, to make sure that resources reach those who need them and so women and girls are not left behind.
❤️Please donate now and help us provide critical aid for girls, children and families affected by this crisis.
*With a regular donation to our emergency fund, you will help ensure that our teams can continue to respond quickly and effectively in crisis situations such as natural disasters or conflicts and provide life-saving assistance.
