Emergency Aid for Gaza

Plan International Schweiz

A ceasefire agreement was reached for Gaza in January 2025, but it collapsed after only six weeks when the Israeli military launched air strikes on 18 March, killing hundreds of civilians in Gaza. Since then, Israeli forces have also deployed ground troops and begun establishing militarised zones in the area, restricting the movement of civilians and humanitarian workers and triggering another wave of mass displacement. The Israeli government's actions have left 2.2 million Palestinians deprived of basic services.

Plan International continues to call for the immediate resumption of a permanent ceasefire and for unrestricted and unhindered access for humanitarian aid and relief supplies throughout the Gaza Strip. Since 2 March 2025, the Israeli government has systematically blocked all humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The complete closure is leading to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. Millions of lives are at risk. We strongly condemn the blockade. Access to humanitarian aid must not, under any circumstances, be obstructed or used as a weapon of war. This is a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

Plan International is active in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, implementing humanitarian programmes where we have been working with local communities and refugees from Palestine and Syria for several years. Since the escalation of hostilities in October 2023, Plan International Egypt and Jordan have been working with local partners to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza while advocating for the protection of civilians, unimpeded and safe access for humanitarian aid, and an end to targeted attacks on humanitarian aid and workers.
